Love this post. Yes, as a travel writer your “duty” is to see the world and tell us about it. Sad you are leaving but know you will be a happy spirit on the road again.

I think that everyone grows out of places. For me, even moving across town invokes these sorts of feelings. If you find yourself in Seville, please get in contact! Y mucha suerte!

Nice post Val! San Miguel is a great place for oldies, maybe one day for retirement? In the meantime, look forward to hearing about your upcoming adventures!

Haha, “Tomorrow” I think that word was lost in translation in Mexico. I hope you fall in love over & over again with your new journeys!

“It’s not you, it’s me.” Isn’t that what they always say? Maybe it’s time I move in on San Miguel.

We chose San Miguel de Allende six years ago for its combination of climate, culture and the basic warmth of its people. I became interested in the process of becoming an expat and wrote a book based on conversations with 32 Americans and Canadians who had also made the move. It’s mainly a way of getting inside their heads. It’s called San Miguel de Allende: A Place in the Heart. Here’s a link to an excerpt on my website:

    Hi Val,
Talking of things revisited; you’re back in San Miguel and I’m back on the same post I commented on about 18 months ago. As you say, there are so many great things about San Miguel and I came back the 2nd time enjoying it more than the first. But as someone said on another post, it’s not usually the place that changes, it’s us. And sometimes we have wanderlust and need to see something else, and sometimes we need the comfort of something/someone we know we love. Fortunately San Miguel will always be there and hopefully not change too much 🙂

It’s definitely our perspective, I agree. I am hoping, too, that it doesn’t change!!
