Thailand

Songkran in Chiang Mai

Thailand is one of those exotic places where all the senses are aroused at once.  The scent of jasmine intoxicates the mind while delicious foods, sizzling on grills and woks, constantly beckon your mouth to taste them.  It can be full of activity, or you can find yourself on a remote beach with nothing but the sound of the ocean waves to lull you to sleep.

Thailand, just the word, causes me to smile and my stomach to growl.  Thailand is also very easy to get around in to see its many different parts.  There is a train that will take you from Bangkok to the northern areas.  You can catch mini buses to get down South to catch your boat to the many islands. Flights are also very cheap, and it is very easy to fly to different spots within Thailand without spending all of your baht.  Your money will go far in Thailand, as there are many inexpensive accommodations.  Thailand has some of the best beaches in the world, the islands are lush, the people friendly, and the food is some of the best I’ve ever eaten.

When I visited Thailand, I went to Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Phi Phi, Koh Lipe, and Railay Beach in Krabi Town. By far,  my favorite place was Koh Lipe.  I loved that there were no 7-Elevens on the island, and it still had a village feel.  It was also the most beautiful of the places that I visited.  One thing is for sure, no matter where you choose to go in Thailand, you will not be disappointed.
