An Alternative To Staying In Touristy Waikiki: Rent This Condo In Makaha

Many people who visit the island of Oahu in Hawaii for vacation don’t like it as much as the other islands. This is because they never leave Waikiki. Waikiki is good for the type of person who is looking for the shopping, nightlife, and variety of restaurants. But, if you’ve come to Hawaii to enjoy the beach and nature in a more tranquil setting, you want to stay outside of Waikiki. Makaha is an excellent alternative that will give you more of a true Hawaiian experience.

This main floor condo at the Makaha Beach Cabanas is right on the beach. Not only that, Makaha Beach is one of the least crowded beaches on Oahu. There’s usually hardly anyone on it, so you  feel like you have the entire beach to yourself. The best part is you get to see stunning sunsets without leaving your condo, and sea turtles can often be seen in the waters of this beach. There is also a bus stop right at the beach if you don’t feel like driving.

This Makaha beach condo has sleeping room for four people (one Queen bed and one sofabed). There is also a small dining rooom table for two for meals, though you will probably find yourself wanting to eat outside on the lanai with its ocean view.

There are two flat-screen TV’s, one in the living room, and one in the bedroom, so there’s no arguing about which TV show to watch.

There is a full kitchen that even has a dishwasher (something you don’t find at many places in Hawaii). The kitchen is nicely remodeled with new cabinets and quartz counters. Dining out in Hawaii is expensive, so it’s nice to save money by cooking some of your own meals. Definitely shop for tropical fruits at one of the farmer’s markets on Oahu. You can’t have a better breakfast.

The bathroom has a stall shower and a big medicine cabinet for storing your toiletries.

The bedroom has a Queen bed with a view of the beach right from the bed. It gets lots of light, something I always appreciate about a bedroom during the day, and there are thick curtains for sleeping.

In addition to the flat screen TV, there is also a CD player/stereo for listening to your favorite music. There are two dressers for clothing as well as a closet in the hallway for hanging your clothes.

The most incredible part of this condo is that you are right on the beach. Makaha Beach is one of the prettiest beaches on Oahu, so you will really enjoy having it on your doorstep. This beach is on the West side of the island, which is the dry side, so while it may be raining in Waikiki, most of the days on Makaha Beach will be sunny for you.

I don’t know if he is there year round, but there was a shave ice vendor right on the beach when I was there, so how nice to be able to walk a few steps to get one of Hawaii’s best treats!

This Makaha condo also provides amenities such as sand chairs, beach towels, umbrellas, a cooler, fins and boogie boards. It’s great to be able to just arrive in Hawaii and not have to buy these extra things that make a visit to the beach so much more enjoyable. This condo also has free wi-fi, a coin-operated laundry area, and BBQ facilities. There is no air conditioning, but it isn’t necessary when you are staying on the beach. The Hawaiian trade winds provide nice breezes to keep you cool.

Location:

84-965 Farrington Hwy, Waiʻanae, HI 96792

The usual distance from central Honolulu is one hour. However, traffic can increase the driving distance to 90 minutes, so plan accordingly. This location is convenient to the Kapolei Shopping area which has everything you need (about a thirty minute drive). There are wonderful local restaurants in the area, and the prices for these restaurants is much less expensive than you will find in Waikiki.
